How to Use a Micropipette?

A micropipette is a laboratory instrument designed to transfer very small amounts of liquid. This equipment is as common as a microscope, and in addition to its use in medical laboratories, it is also used in analytical chemistry and microbiology. This is used to transfer anywhere from 1 to 1000 microliters of liquid. This is a small amount of liquid and therefore requires a pipette with great accuracy and precision. It also requires a skilled technician to handle the pipette, as the slightest error can cause a drastic reading difference (especially true for a micro pipette after working with a small amount of liquid). The micro pipette consists of a volume control knob and even a digital volume indicator of an electric pipette.

A micropipette usually has two buttons, a plunger button and an ejector button. The ejector button is usually used to release the tip of the disposable pipette. The tips are usually manufactured from a high quality diamond coating mold using special medical grade polypropylene with high transparency.

Micro pipettes come in several different sizes and it is important not to exceed the upper or lower limits of the pipette. The micropipette has an adjustment knob that can be used to adjust the volume of liquid entering the tip. The numeric dial can be used to read the settings. During the procedure, it is important to keep the tip sterile and not allow it to come into contact with other objects. When the piston is pressed, it stops in two different positions. You need to press the plunger until the initial resistance is felt, then insert the tip into the solution. Again, care must be taken not to submerge the tip completely in the water, but just below the surface. In order for the pipette to be filled, the piston must be carefully released. Note that if the liquid is harmful, it will take more time to fill it. Air bubbles should be avoided as they only distort the reading. It is important to never point the tip upwards as this can cause liquid to fall into the pipette and destroy it. You can now press the plunger to the point of initial resistance to release the solution, and after waiting a second or so, fully depress the plunger to release the entire measured volume of liquid. The tip should then be removed using the release button provided on the micropipette.
