Airsoft Review: Classic Army M15A4 Airsoft Rifle

This classic army rifle is an exact replica of the M-16 machine gun.

History of the M-16:

The M-16 was developed by designer Eugene Stoner in the mid-50s.

It became the official infantry weapon in the United States Army in 1967 during the Vietnam era.

The weapon is manufactured by the ArmaLite company located in the state of Illinois.

Features:

The CA 15A4 rifle is very similar to the M16. It has an all metal receiver. The only parts that are plastic on this gun are the parts that are plastic on a real M-16, ie: stock, grip, and foregrip. The material is made of very durable fiber reinforced plastic.

Classic Army is the only Airsoft manufacturer licensed to use the Armalite logo on their products. The markings appear on the M15A4 as they appear on the actual M-16.

The fire selector has three positions: safety, semi-automatic and full-automatic. The gun ships with a top cap magazine of around 300 rounds. It is equipped with a removable metal handle (unlike the M15A2, where the handle is permanently attached to it). The latch used to cock the M-16 and the button used to correct an ammunition jam are for demonstration purposes only. The fire selection indicator on the opposite side of the fire selection switch is also for appearance.

Operation:

The operation of this airsoft gun is very simple. Set the fire selector to semi or automatic, then pull the trigger.

To load a top-cap magazine, remove it from the gun by pressing the release button, then open the small sliding door on top of the magazine. After loading the BBs, the sliding door must be pulled. After that, the loading mechanism inside the magazine must be turned to feed the rounds into the magazine feed tube. The release wheel is located at the bottom of the magazine. It’s fine to spin the wheel as many times as you like, as there is built-in functionality to prevent it from spinning too much.

The loading mechanism is located under the dust cover on the right side of the gun, directly below the carry handle. It closes with a small magnet and it also has a spring. To access the hop-up mechanism, you need to open the cover. This mechanism is used to adjust the flight of the BB exiting the barrel. It turns into a circle, therefore increasing accuracy and distance. The product ships with a tool to adjust the jump, but it can be easily adjusted by sticking a finger in the hole. If you need BBs to fly higher, turn the larger wheel counterclockwise. Turn it clockwise for the opposite effect.

The battery is in reserve. To get to it, a door must be opened in the gun’s breech plate. Sometimes, it takes a little persuading before the battery comes out. It’s a tight fit, but the gun also takes a larger 9.4-volt battery. Care must be taken not to allow the battery to self-discharge. This may cause connections to drop.

Reliability:

Classic Army products have a new design since 2003. Many things have been fixed in the new versions. The gearbox is stronger than before and it is said to be slightly quieter. All of them eliminate the rattle associated with metal constructions as well as plastic guns.

Performance:

The rate of fire on this stock is between 280 and 315 frames. The speed operates in semi-automatic mode in this range. It takes turns on each shot. There seems to be no change in the fully automatic setting. In this mode, the speed constantly reaches the highest level.

All fire rates are approximately 15 rounds per second.

Speed can easily be increased by installing a stronger spring in the gearbox. Your local airsoft shop can do this for you. A higher rate of fire is achieved by installing a larger, more powerful battery.

Service:

The battery must be fully charged so that the gearbox does not jam. After the battery is weak. The gearbox is less likely to make a full revolution, so there is a tendency to jam. To help the battery maintain a full charge, it should be fully discharged from time to time. It is wise to invest in a smart charger.

And finally, a word about safety: although airsoft products are ultimately toys, they are also adult toys. Always wear eye protection. It’s wise to put the gun in the safe, even if it’s not in the middle of the game. Once done with the gun for now, the magazine should be removed.

Airsoft products in the United States must be sold with a bright orange tip. It is not recommended to remove them.

If you are pulled over by the police and you have an airgun at the time, it is recommended that you report this to the police.

Summary:

Classic Army products are generally of high quality, and the M15A4 rifle is no exception. The gun looks great and feels like the grip and the real thing. If you are in the market for something with long range and high accuracy, then this gun definitely has your name on it.
